1. How do I get an address?

Our office provides addresses for all Townships except for Middleville and Stockholm. Addresses are assigned at the time of a building permit.  

2. When do I need to have my septic system inspected?

At property transfer, all septic systems are required to be certified as compliant. If the septic system isn't compliant, an escrow account must be created to upgrade the septic system after transfer.

Septic systems also may need to be certified before permits are issued in Shoreland areas, or for bedroom additions anywhere else in the County.

3. What is my Zoning Classification?

Click on Beacon and find your property.  Once you've located the parcel, click on "Zoning" under the "Planning and Zoning" layer.
