A Message from the Greater Lake Sylvia Association:
The Greater Lake Sylvia Association (GLSA) has been notified that the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) now has a new official start date from the contractor for the Twin Sylvia Public Water Access (PWA) redevelopment/construction work. The new start date is Monday, September 18. The PWA will close Sunday, September 17. The DNR will likely remove the docks on Wednesday, September 13. The public water access will be closed for four to six weeks depending on weather conditions.
The GLSA has completed an agreement for use of a private access for removal of boats or other watercraft only. No access for boat launching will be allowed on this private property with an inspector on duty. When the inspector is done for the day, the private access will be chained shut and observed. Lake Sylvia property owners will be notified based on their email addresses. With starry stonewort now in two other area lakes and several other Minnesota lakes, the Greater Lake Sylvia Association is doing all it can to prevent the spread of starry stonewort into another location in Lake Sylvia and other lakes. We appreciate your cooperation of choosing other lakes to fish or boat on until this project is finished. The public will be notified when the access reconstruction is complete and the public access is re-opened to the public.
We appreciate your cooperation. Official hours of the temporary access will be posted but it is expected the temporary access for watercraft removal will be available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. See the GLSA home page for any changing information at https://lakesylvia.org/
