Two years ago, the Minnesota Department of Transportation came up with the idea to have a “Name a Snowplow” contest. To MnDOT’s surprise, the response was overwhelming – even if the inaugural winning name was tragically lame (Plowy McPlowface). The top eight vote-getters had names attached to plows in MnDOT’s eight regions.
The first contest was so popular, it returned last year. More than 11,000 entries were received and the runaway winner was Betty Whiteout, distancing other honorable mention winners like The Big Leplowski, Scoop Dogg, Blizzard of Oz and Edward Blizzardhands.
The contest is back for a third year and the link to submit entries opened this morning and runs through Friday, Dec. 16. To see previous winners, to learn the contest ground rules and to submit entries, click here: http://www.dot.state.mn.us/nameasnowplow/
