Hopefully the rain of the last couple days and more expected today and tomorrow will make a dent in the drought that has gripped all of Wright County – some areas worse than others – but the latest data from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows that the areas of Extreme Drought are expanding on the doorstep of Wright County.
The southeast corner of the county, including Delano and Rockford, are in the Extreme Drought designation, thanks a drier than normal summer and the driest September on record. A swath in the southern third of the county from St. Michael to Cokato is in the Severe Drought designation, while the northern two thirds of the county is designated as Moderate Drought.
