The Second Annual Local Heroes Days will be held from Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 18-20 in Monticello at Open Road RV (formerly Monticello RV Center) located at 3880 Chelsea Road W.
The purpose of Local Heroes Days is to celebrate our local heroes – law enforcement, firefighters, first responders, veterans, current members of the Armed Forces, educators and medical professionals.
There will be more than 20 vehicles on site, including vehicles used by the National Guard, Minnesota State Patrol, Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Monticello Fire Department, CentraCare Health EMS, Big Lake Police Department, Life Link III Air Ambulance Helicopter, North Memorial Health Air Care and a vintage 1917 fire truck.
“The first event last year was a smashing success and I think this year will be the same,” Wright County Sheriff Sean Deringer said. “It is a very well organized event and more than 1,000 people showed up at the initial event, which was incredible. My office will have a presence out there all three days and we’re looking forward to meeting up with the folks who come out.”
Here are some of the events that will be part of Local Heroes Days:
Honoring Local Heroes and Veterans – A semi-trailer carrying a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier – both located in Washington D.C.
