On Monday, May 2, 2022, the Wright County Parks & Recreation Department started the process of replacing the playground at Otsego County Park. The changes to the playground will include new equipment, safety surfacing, and an expanded play area.
Initially, the plan was to have the playground completed in time for Memorial Day Weekend. However, numerous large storms that hit Minnesota has caused significant flooding in the park, which has delayed the installation.
The new timeline for completion is mid-June because the construction has been stopped due to standing water in some places and saturated ground everywhere. When conditions improve to resume work, the construction will resume. With warming temperatures coming this weekend, that is expected to hasten that process.
