At its Tuesday, April 26 meeting, the Wright County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a proclamation naming May 1-7 as National Correctional Officers and Employees Week in Wright County.
Created in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan, corrections officers deal with institutional corrections (jails and prisons) and community corrections (community-based programs or sentencing options). Corrections officers are dedicated to maintaining a safe work environment to ensure the public safety in what is often a hostile environment and are unsung heroes in the field of law enforcement and public safety.
