At its Jan. 18 meeting, the Wright County Board of Commissioners sets the annual Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting to run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, June 13. The Board of Appeal and Equalization is the opportunity for residents to appeal their assessment and classification. Often times, residents mistakenly believe the annual Truth in Taxation meeting in December is where they can appeal their property taxes, but it is the Board of Appeal and Equalization.
Under state statute, the annual meeting must be scheduled after the second Friday in June and before June 30 to allow property owners the option to appeal to the County Board their specific assessment and classification. The deadline for property owners to make an appointment was set for Monday, June 6 to give staff time to gather pertinent information to a particular land parcel.
