The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued a Poor Air Quality Warning for much of eastern and central Minnesota for the rest of today – with Wright County directly in the middle of the warning area.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) is at the Yellow/Moderate designation, but the MPCA warns that we could see a couple of hours of the Orange/Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups designation. The reason for the warning is the combination of persistent light winds, cold temperatures and increased moisture from recent snowfalls that has been trapping particulate matter near the surface.
It is recommended that the elderly, young children and those with respiratory conditions to limit outside activity. The MPCA is saying that changes in the weather this evening will likely end the warning in our area.
