From now through the end of February, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will be offering free lunch hour webinars on a variety of outdoor topics. The webinars will be held at noon every Wednesday and are free to sign up for on the DNR website.
The topics are as follows:
Nov. 24 – Nature RX. Discussion about the health benefits of getting outdoors in parks, forests and other natural settings.
Dec. 1 – Lifetime Licenses and Other Holiday Gifts. Gift ideas ranging from renting a camper cabin to purchasing a lifetime hunting or fishing license.
Dec. 8 – Ice Safety for Outdoor Spots. Discussion regarding skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing or snowmobiling on or around ice.
Dec. 15 – Fly Tying Talk. A discussion of how to tie the flies used in fly fishing.
Dec. 22 – Learning to Hunt as an Adult. Discussion for those who have considered taking up hunting but don’t have any experience.
Dec. 29 – Introduction to Trapping Furbearers. Discussion about how to get started in trapping, where you can trap and tips and tricks to be more successful.
Jan. 5 – High School Clay Target Program. Discussion about getting student teams involved in target shooting and when leagues start.
Jan. 12 – Ice Angling for Panfish. Discussion including tips and techniques designed to assist those new to ice fishing and those who have a lifetime of experience.
Jan. 19 – Dark House Spearing. Discussion of techniques for spear fishing.
Jan. 26 – Winter Squirrel Hunting. Discussion of the tactics, strategies and gear for hunting squirrels in the snowy winter months.
Feb. 2 – Snowshoeing and Cross-County Skiing Basics. An introduction to what is needed to begin enjoying travel in the snow.
Feb. 9 – Introduction to Winter Camping. Discussion of the equipment needed, tips and tricks to enjoy camping outdoors in the middle of winter.
Feb. 16 – Introduction to Maple Syruping. Discussion on tips to collect, boil and bottle sap.
Feb. 23 – Archery Bow Hunting Basics. Discussion on how to select a compound bow and bow accessories need to hunt effectively in the field.
