Saturday, Nov. 6 marks the opening of the 2021 firearms deer hunting season and, depending on where you hunt, if you shoot a deer on opening weekend, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will require that the deer be brought to a sampling station to be tested for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). Hunters need to check the number of the deer permit area where they will be hunting to determine if CWD sampling is required.
