Earlier this week, the dispatchers in the Wright County Sheriff’s Office were presented with the Making a Difference Award from the Minnesota Chapter of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials/National Emergency Number Association (APCO/NENA) at a ceremony in Alexandria.
The award was given for the outstanding work the dispatchers did during the Feb. 9 active shooter incident at the Allina Crossroads Clinic in Buffalo. The WCSO dispatch center was inundated with calls at the time the incident, including calls from those inside the clinic and shooter Gregory Ulrich, who was arrested at the scene and is awaiting trial.
Sheriff Sean Deringer accepted the award on behalf of his dispatch team.
