October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Wright County 2021 Emerging Leaders, county staff members from numerous different departments, has taken on the challenge of shining a light on the issue of domestic violence and raising awareness about the magnitude of the problem.
Every year, approximately 10 million Americans are victims of domestic violence – which equates to 20 people every minute.
As part of the project, the top floor of the Wright County Justice Center will be illuminated purple at night during the month of October, county employees will be wearing purple ribbons and everyone is encouraged to wear purple on Thursday, Oct. 21, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Day – also known as #PurpleThursday.
