Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 1, Wright County residents can receive notifications from the Wright County Recorder’s Office by signing up to get free Land Notification Alerts. This service will alert property owners of activity that may be possible property fraud – when someone illegally uses someone else’s name or records related to their property for financial gain. Mortgage/real estate fraud is a growing crime in Minnesota and around the country and monitoring your property records is a way to prevent this type of crime.
The Land Notification Alert warns property owners when documents are recorded against their personal name of business. Each time an alert is triggered, that individual receives an email providing an update to any activity.
This is a free service that requires no follow-up after the initial sign-up. You will need an email account with Google or Yahoo and you will receive an email only when a document with the name you provided is recorded in the official real estate records. Participants can unsubscribe this service at any time.
