After months of delays, the results of the 2020 United States Census are scheduled to be released Thursday, Aug. 12. Census data is typically released in April of the year following the Census to give states and counties time to conduct redistricting based on population ahead of the 2022 elections. If the numbers from Minnesota Demographer – which are used as the basis of determining populations in between Census periods – are accurate, Wright County won’t have to redistrict commissioner districts for the first time since the 1970 Census. Because of the disproportionate growth in the county along the I-94 corridor, Wright County has had to redistrict commissioner districts following each of the last four Censuses.
