Despite sporadic rain in the area over the last few weeks, drought conditions in Minnesota continue to be a problem and cut Wright County in half between areas considered severe drought and moderate drought.
The U.S. Drought Monitor released its weekly drought map for Minnesota and, for the first time, areas of Minnesota have been highlighted as experiencing extreme drought. Most are in northwestern Minnesota, but there is a patch in neighboring Stearns County that has been downgraded to Extreme Drought conditions.
As it pertains to Wright County, the demarcation line of moderate and severe drought cut the county essentially in half – with the southern half of the county being in the Moderate Drought category and the northern half in the Severe Drought category.
