A Message from the Wright County Highway Department
Work at the intersection of Tiger Drive and County State Aid Highway 30 (CSAH 30) in the City of Delano will start Tuesday, July 6 and will be completed before school begins. The prime contractor on this project is Meyer Contracting of Maple Grove. During construction, the project will be closed to thru traffic, which will be directed to use the posted detour route. The detour route will utilize County Line Road (County Road 139) and CSAH 17. Access will be maintained to residents that live along the corridor.
Staff members from the City of Delano, Wright County Highway Department and Delano Public School District have met several times over the years to discuss and review potential options to improve the safety and access at this intersection. Through these meetings, it was recommended to both the County Board and City Council that a mini-Roundabout be constructed. The City and County agreed to partner on this important transportation project. The intersection will be very similar to the roundabout constructed near St. Michael Middle School East in 2018, of which we have received positive feedback from the City and St. Michael-Albertville School District.
MnDOT information video regarding mini-Roundabouts can be found here: https://youtu.be/Iq2R2141BM0. Privately-owned utility changes will be taking place throughout the project. This work will be performed by the individual private utility companies or crews they hire directly at the same time as the County project. Some of this work may begin before the road closure.
