For the second straight week, FOX-9 TV is going to highlight a city in Wright County as part of its summer Wednesday Town Ball Tour series.
Last week, the FOX-9 crew spent the full day in Buffalo, starting with the morning show, as well as live broadcasts from Bentfield Mills Park for its 5, 6, 9 and 10 o’clock newscasts – featuring local businesses and activities.
Tomorrow (Wednesday, June 15), the Town Ball Tour makes a stop in Delano, highlighting the town ball game between North Star League rivals the Delano A’s and the Loretto Larks at Delano Municipal Stadium.
A full slate of events is scheduled around the Town Ball Tour event, including youth games and a fundraising event.
Admission is free and the events begin at 4:30 p.m. with the 15AAA baseball game between Delano and Robbinsdale Cooper. At 6 and 6:30 p.m. there will be a series of youth Tee-Ball games played on the outfield grass of Municipal Stadium.
At 7:20 p.m., there will be a ceremony promoting fundraising activities in honor of Nate Triplett and Toddy Traen – both of whom are fighting cancer. The Strike Out Cancer campaign will be the focus of FOX 9’s pregame coverage, as the Delano community expresses its support.
Triplett, 34, and Traen, 19, were both diagnosed with cancer in February of this year and are currently undergoing chemotherapy. Triplett was a 2005 graduate of Delano High School who played college football for the University of Minnesota and was a fifth-round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2010. His NFL career also included time with the Indianapolis Colts and San Diego Chargers. Traen was a three-sport athlete, a 2020 graduate of Rockford High School and is the grandson of legendary Delano High School baseball coach Dick Traen. Donations will be collected during the Town Ball Tour event. Game time for the A’s-Larks game will be 7:30 p.m.
