The Minnesota Department of Transportation sent out an update Thursday (Aug. 13) concerning the I-94 project between Maple Grove and Clearwater. The project is in its second year (it will be completed in 2021) and MnDOT provided both a project update and a video virtual update.
One of the most significant updates was a schedule change on the western portion of the project. The reconstruction on I-94 between Monticello and Clearwater – where all four lanes are going to be shifted to the eastbound side of the freeway – was scheduled to begin this construction season, but has been put off until 2021.
All traffic lanes will remain in their current configuration throughout the rest of the year, however there will be work crews continuing to build temporary lanes in the coming months in preparation for the traffic shift in 2021.
