Office of Traffic Safety Providing Refresher Material on One-Year Anniversary of Hands Free Law

Saturday, Aug. 1, marked the one-year anniversary of the Hands Free Law, which prohibits the use of cell phones in vehicles. To mark the anniversary, the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety, a sub-division of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, has offered some refresher reminders for motorists as to why the law can help save lives by reducing the amount of distracted driving done on Minnesota roads.

The Minnesota Safety Council has provided numerous links to fact sheets regarding distracted driving and the Hands Free Law that can be found here: https://www.minnesotasafetycouncil.org/traffic/handsfree.cfm

The Minnesota OTS also has several links to answer questions about the Hands Free Law that can be found at: https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/ots/hands-free/Pages/default.aspx
