County Recorder Releases Policy for Residents Seeking Documents

Many of the functions of the Wright County Recorder’s Office have been changed. With the closure of public counters Tuesday, Wright County Recorder Tanya West has released the following statement of procedures moving forward:

Wright County Recorder’s Office Operating Procedures effective 3/17/20

Land Record Search Options: Landshark provides searching options available to the public and accessibility to download documents pertaining to real estate, if needed. Go to the Landshark website for more information and to create your own username and password. You can search for free, but fees will be incurred if you want to view a document.

Recording Documents: If the public has real estate documents, they need recorded in our office they can either submit electronically or mail in their documents along with a check payable to the Wright County Recorder’s office. Please visit our website (www.co.wright.mn.us/195/Recorder) for more information on recording documents.

Marriage Certificates: Marriage Certificate requests can be submitted and paid for on our website. Go to MOMS ® Minnesota Official Marriage System to locate your Marriage Certificate. If the Marriage Certificate was issued in Wright County, you can submit your request electronically through MOMS ®. Mail check or pay on our website with credit card referencing certificate number.

Marriage License and Application

ATTENTION MARRIAGE APPLICANTS: Issuance of Marriage Licenses is not available until April 1st and this is subject to change at any time. We will update our website if a solution is determined prior to that date. MN State Statute requires both parties to be present at the time of issuance and with the public counters closed we can’t process at this time.

Applying for a marriage license must be completed electronically through our website.

INFORMATIONAL ONLY: Licenses applied for at the Recorder’s office when we resume this service are typically issued same day to the applicants and the marriage may occur on the same day of issuance. The license is valid for six months from the date of purchase. Please see our website for more detailed information on requirements. Issuance of Marriage Licenses can only be done at the county and both parties must be present before the license can be issued.

Credentials of License or Ordination: Certificate of Filing form is available for download on our website. Apply by mail or fax your request to our office at 763-684-4558. The form will need to be signed and NOTARIZED. Mail check or pay on our website with credit card referencing ordained person.

Vital Records: Birth Certificates: Tangible Interest Form is available for download on our website located under related forms. Apply by mail or fax your request to our office at 763-684-4558. The form will need to be signed and NOTARIZED. Mail checks or pay on our website with credit card referencing last name of subject.

Death Certificates: Tangible Interest Form is available for download on our website located under related forms. Apply by mail or fax your request to our office at 763-684-4558. The form will need to be signed and NOTARIZED. Mail checks or pay on our website with credit card referencing last name of decedent.

Passport Photos: This service is not available until April 1st and this date is subject to change at any time. If the public needs a passport photo there are other locations that provide this service throughout the county.
