The License Bureau now has two separate Service Counters. The indoor Service Counter is by appointment for Driver’s License/ID/Permit applications. The Outdoor Walk-Up Window is a walk-up service, first come first served, for Motor Vehicle, DNR, and Limited Driver’s License Services.
License Bureau Indoor Service Counter, located in the Government Center, Room 160
Hours: Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. & 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
This Counter is by Appointment with limited walk in availability - See below for additional information.
License Bureau Outdoor Walk-Up Window, located on the South side (lake side) of the building, with the line forming outside.

This Counter is a walk-up service, first come first served, for Motor Vehicle, DNR, and Limited Driver’s License Services - See below for additional information.
Services provided at the License Bureau Indoor Service Counter, located in the Government Center, Room 160:
Open by Appointment for Driver’s License/ID Card/Permit applications. All customers must check in with a deputy before proceeding to the Indoor Service Counter.
Appointment are made online. Appointments are released in 2 week increments only. If no appointment is showing available, check back for cancellations. Appointments are released every other Friday at 8 a.m.
We accept applications for Standard, Real or Enhanced cards. We accept applications for Driver’s Licenses, ID Cards, and Permits.
Changing/Updating the name on your card requires you first update with Social Security. Once the name has been changed with Social Security, you can complete an application. You will be required to show a certified copy of the name change document (marriage certificate, Divorce decree, or court ordered name change document).
Limited Walk-in Driver’s License/ID Card/Permit applications will be accepted without an appointment as time permits. We will only accept walk-in applications between 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Only three people will be allowed to wait at a time, and all appointments will be waited on first. ALL walk-ins must check in with the deputy first and must wait in the designated area.

- Disability Parking Certificates - First time or renewals
- CDL Medical Certificates
- Paying a Reinstatement Fee (Cash or Credit/Debit ONLY)
- Requesting Reinstatement Requirements
- Turning in missing documentation to complete a previously submitted application

Motor Vehicle:
- License Tab renewal
- Minnesota Title Transfers
- Out of State Registration and title transfers
- Replacing lost or damages Plates and Stickers
- Applying for a duplicate title
- Applying for Special Plates
Insurance is REQUIRED for registration renewal, title transfer, or application for new title/registration. Proof of insurance for the vehicle covered must include: Insurance company name, Policy number, and Policy expiration date. View Minnesota Statute 169.798 for more details.
For the quickest service, please provide the entire renewal notice and have the insurance information already completed. If you are unable to provide the notice, please have our vehicle information and insurance information ready.
DNR:
Provide the post card for Renewals for Watercraft, ATV/OHV, or Snowmobile Renewals. If you do not have the renewal card, please have your Registration numbers ready.
You need a bill of sale to transfer non-title watercrafts, ATV/OHV, or snowmobiles. You need the titel to transfer title watercrafts.
Resident Hunting and Fishing licenses can be purchased using your current Minnesota Driver’s License. Your social security number may be required if this is the first time purchasing a license.
Limited Driver’s License Services:

- Paying a Reinstatement Fees (Cash or Credit/Debit ONLY)
- Requesting Reinstatement Requirements (no applications)
- Turning in missing documentation to complete a previously submitted application
- Replacing a lost or stolen Driver’s License or ID Card that is NOT expired or expiring soon.
- Changing the dress on a Driver’s License or ID Card that is NOT expired or expiring soon. If you have a REAL or Enhanced Card, you are required to provide 2 new forms of residency of the respective required document lists with your new address.
Driver’s License/ID Card/Permit applications that require a vision test and/or photo cannot be processed at the walk up window. That service is offered at the Indoor Service Counter by appointment only.

You can use the Drive-up secure drop box located on the East side of the building or the secure drop box located in our lobby. Transactions are processed, and your tabs will be mailed back to you. Please make sure to include exact cash or a check made payment to Wright County Auditor/Treasurer. |
