Wright County Help Me Grow Group Meetings (formerly known as IEIC)
RSVP at least one week in advance to the Wright County Help Me Grow coordinator at BirthToFiveCommittee@co.wright.mn.us or 763-682-8926. Please be sure to RSVP as lack of attendees will result in cancellation of the session.
Do you have a child with special needs? Do you need help with medical expenses? Are you frustrated with not knowing what options may be available to you? The Wright County Help Me Grow Committee can offer you information on programs that could help support you and your child (birth-17).

Group meetings inform you of the resources available. Through the Wright County Help Me Grow program, we can help by assessing your immediate, short-term and long term needs, inform you about financial resources, and share information about services and resource options that might be available to your child. Services available could include Case Management, Respite Care, Medical Assistance (MA) & TEFRA, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Family Support Grant, Waiver Programs, Personal Care Assistance (PCA), and various other financial programs.

Wright County Community Support Program (CSP) Social Event Calendar
These groups provide an informal, supportive atmosphere that enables people who live with a serious and persistent mental illness to get together. CSP also provides opportunities to get out into the community. It is open to males and females who reside in Wright County. These groups are run as a drop-in format unless otherwise noted on the CSP calendar. Call Kathy Frank or Rosemary Prudhomme at 763-684-2344 with questions or to register for an activity. You can also e-mail us at
hs-csp@co.wright.mn.us. It is the policy of Wright County Human Services that money will not be refunded for no-shows and late notice cancellations.

Child Foster Parents: Orientation - Part I - This orientation will be an overview of the child foster care program within Wright County. All child foster care applicants are required to attend.

Child Foster Parents: Orientation - Part II - This orientation is for all those wanting to get licensed for Child Foster Care. This orientation will cover mandated reporting and specifics about the child foster care program of Wright County. This is a mandatory part of the licensing process for applicants wanting to get licensed for child foster care.

To make sure there is available space in each class, you must pre-register by calling Terri Burkhart at 763-682-7516 or 1-800-362-3667, ext. 7516, or e-mail Terri.Burkhart@co.wright.mn.us.. Class fee is $15 for Wright County Day Care providers and $20 for providers outside of Wright County. Class is free for Wright County Foster Care providers. Pay fee prior to class by calling Terri Burkhart at 763-682-7516 or 1-800-362-3667, ext. 7516. Class fees are non-refundable unless you reschedule. A minimum of ten participants need to be registered in order to hold class. Class will be canceled one week prior to class if the minimum is not met. No admittance to class after 6:05 p.m.

This training examines the importance of discipline based on the child’s age, developmental level, past experiences and their current situation. It also explains the rationale for statutes and rules on physical punishment in alternative care homes.

This training helps the participants to understand the grief process of a birth parent whose children have entered an out-of-home placement and the importance of involving the birth family in case planning, daily decision-making, and other activities to support reunification.

  Module 9:
This training examines the definition and dynamics of child sexual abuse. Participants will learn that sexual abuse is a complex problem and that children who have been sexually abused may have a hard time adjusting to a new home. Additional training and resources to successfully care for these children and teens will be discussed.

Participants will learn to recognize signs of family stress and know the importance of developing and using support systems to prevent a family crisis. Procedures will be outlined that are required if allegations of maltreatment are made. Health, hygiene, and nutritional issues will be explored.

Participants will learn the unique aspects of becoming a permanent home for a child who will not be returning to their biological parents. They will begin to understand how post-placement issues such as loss, identity, and loyalties can be complicated for these children and begin to prepare for them. Caregivers will explore the supports for parents and children in their community.

This training helps participants recognize the long-term adjustment to adoption for the parent and the child. This includes dealing with grief, loss, identity, control, divided loyalties, and fertility issues as well as the fantasy of being a “dream family.”

SBS (Shaken Baby Syndrome) and SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) Training
Please register by calling Terri Burkhart at 763-682-7516 or e-mail Terri.Burkhart@co.wright.mn.us. If you are not familiar with the training location, please ask for directions and plan extra travel time. Training does not have to be taken in the county in which you are licensed. Registration is required one week prior to class in order to make sure that enough materials and space are available. Total cost for both classes is $15.00. Payment can be taken over the phone. Class fees are non-refundable unless you reschedule. A minimum of ten participants need to be registered in order to hold class. Class will be canceled one week prior to class if the minimum is not met. It is mandated to view the SBS video during this class. Because of this requirement, there is no admittance to class after 6:05 p.m.
SIDS is the leading cause of death for infants one month of age to one year. During this training, you will learn ways to reduce the risk of SIDS. Shaken Baby Syndrome is a form of physical child abuse. During this training, you will learn SBS injuries that can occur when a child is violently shaken, characteristics of infant crying, and how to cope with crying and difficult stages of development.

SBS (Shaken Baby Syndrome) and SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) Training
Please register by calling Terri Burkhart at 763-682-7516 or e-mail Terri.Burkhart@co.wright.mn.us. If you are not familiar with the training location, please ask for directions and plan extra travel time. Training does not have to be taken in the county in which you are licensed. Registration is required one week prior to class in order to make sure that enough materials and space are available. Total cost for both classes is $15.00. Payment can be taken over the phone. Class fees are non-refundable unless you reschedule. A minimum of ten participants need to be registered in order to hold class. Class will be canceled one week prior to class if the minimum is not met. It is mandated to view the SBS video during this class. Because of this requirement, there is no admittance to class after 6:05 p.m.
SIDS is the leading cause of death for infants one month of age to one year. During this training, you will learn ways to reduce the risk of SIDS. Shaken Baby Syndrome is a form of physical child abuse. During this training, you will learn SBS injuries that can occur when a child is violently shaken, characteristics of infant crying, and how to cope with crying and difficult stages of development.

Supervision: Understanding Your Role

This is an opportunity to review the rules re: supervision and to gain a clear understanding how to provide adequate supervision in your environment. Liability issues will be addressed as well as proactive measures to take to ensure proper supervision for all ages of children in your care.
