The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is reminding those who ice fish in the lower two-thirds of Minnesota (including Wright County) that the deadline to remove fish houses is 11:59 p.m. Monday, March 1. The deadline for the northern third of Minnesota is 11:59 p.m. Monday, March 15.
The DNR can cite owners who do not remove their fish houses by the deadline and they can be confiscated. It is also against the law to leave any garbage, debris or pieces of a fish house on the ice.
After March 1, fish houses can be on the ice between midnight and one hour before sunrise, but only if occupied.
