Although it may not seem like it at the moment, the cold and snow of winter is coming and many Wright County residents will be using space heaters, wood stoves and fireplaces to heat their homes, garages and cabins over the winter months.
Wright County Emergency Management and the U.S. Fire Administration want those who use heaters, stoves and fireplaces to be aware of the potential dangers and set up a safety plan and be aware of fire prevention safety tips. One-third of all home heating fires are caused by space heaters and those heaters are responsible for 80 percent of home heating fire deaths.
