With the completion of the roundabout at the intersection of Highway 38 (70th Street NE) & MacIver Avenue NE, the Wright County Highway Department is excited to announce all-new lanes, roundabouts, and pedestrian trails along County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 19 and CSAH 38 (70th Street NE) in Albertville & Otsego will open in the afternoon on Friday, October 16, 2020.
The $9.8 million projects, which began in April 2020, includes added lanes for increased capacity, intersection improvements (added lanes exiting the Outlet Mall & roundabouts at other intersections), improvements to city underground utilities, and new pedestrian trails along the highway 19 and highway 38 corridors.
The project was a collaborative effort between many agencies and was funded with a combination of federal funds, county state-aid (gas-tax) funds; local funds from the cities of Albertville & Otsego; and Joint Powers Water funds.
Mathiowetz Construction Company of Sleepy Eye, MN was the prime contractor for the construction.
Crews will have some items to complete after removal of the detour, including pavement cross-walk & arrows; city landscaping in the highway 38/MacIver roundabout; pedestrian push-button items at the 19/Mall intersection; and final touch up items along the pedestrian trail.
The Wright County Highway Department would like to thank the Albertville & Otsego communities for their continued patience during the six-month project that will provide safety & capacity improvements along the Highway 19 & 38 corridors for many years to come.
