A message from Virgil Hawkins, Wright County Highway Engineer
Work on Highway 30 is on track to be completed for the season by mid-October (weather permitting). The Highway 30 Project is a collaborative effort between the county and city with both agencies sharing in the cost of the improvements. The project is a City of Delano contract with construction administration and inspection by the city's engineering firm, Wenck, Inc. of Maple Plain, MN. The prime contractor for this project is GMH Asphalt Corporation out of Chaska, MN. A traffic detour has been in place since May for this section of highway 30. Local traffic for those who live along this portion of CSAH 30 will be coordinated and maintained during construction.
Remaining work that is scheduled to be completed in the next couple of weeks (by mid-October, 2020) includes, but is not limited to the following:
Concrete flat-work
Class 5 aggregate base fine grading (in preparation for paving)
Placement of asphalt bituminous base course
Painting temporary pavement markings
Installation of traffic signs
Removal of detour signing - open highway to traffic
Seeding/restoration & cleanup
The final lift of bituminous pavement and final pavement markings will take place in 2021, with final completion by June 30, 2021. The project improvements include reconstructing and widening the 2-lane rural section and construct a roundabout at the intersection of CSAH 30 and McKinley Parkway/Davidson Avenue. Replacement of culvert crossings and additional storm sewer, as well as sanitary sewer and watermain utility extensions.
