For
those around the Centra Care Health Clinic in Monticello between approximately
11:15 and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday are going to be in for a thrill of sound and
speed as the hospital is part of a statewide flyover to salute health care
workers.
The
United States Air Force has created a flyover program called Operation American
Resolve – a series of flyovers in major cities to demonstrate the Department of
the Air Force’s and Air National Guard’s continued readiness during the
national COVID-19 response, while saluting the American heroes at the forefront
of the fight against COVID-19. The flyovers are intended to lift morale in
cities across the country due to the severe health and economic impacts that
have resulted from COVID-19.
The
148th Fighter Wing of the Minnesota National Guard based in Duluth
and the 133rd Airlift Wing out of Minnesota are going to fly a pair
of two-ship sorties Wednesday, May 6, that will fly down the Mississippi River
Corridor and fly over designated hospitals and landmarks. The flight plan
includes flying over the cities of Brainerd, Little Falls, St. Cloud,
Monticello, Coon Rapids, Fridley, Robbinsdale, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Hastings,
Rochester, St. Louis Park, White Bear Lake and Stillwater. A joint flyover is
also scheduled to fly over the State Capitol and Twin Cities Veterans
Administration Hospital.
Times are approximate based on the start time, but for those who are along the Mississippi River in Wright County after 11 a.m. will be in for a rare treat.
