For a lot of Wright County residents, CSAH 8 serves as a feeder road to access the lakes areas of the county as it runs between Maple Lake at Hwy. 55 and I-94 in Hasty.
But, this summer, that stretch of road will be under construction and the portion that is in the City of Maple Lake will be down for some time.
The Wright County Board of Commissioners authorized an agreement between the Wright County Highway Department and the City of Maple Lake to proceed with a jointly run project.
The city is looking to do water line and sanitary sewer line replacements, curb and gutter and pedestrian ramps in conjunction with the highway department’s pavement project. The county and city have been working together for the past two years about the timeline of the project to sync the work together.
Wright County Highway Engineer Virgil Hawkins estimated that, due to the extensive utility replacement the city is doing in conjunction with the project, that portion of CSAH 8 in Maple Lake will be shut down – likely for up to three months.
While the exact schedule won’t be known until the pre-construction meeting, the anticipated start time for the project is early-to-mid-June with completion expected in late-August or early September.
Hwy. 55 and CSAHs 12, 39 and 7 are expected to be the detour routes on the project.
