The 2019 Valuation Notices were mailed to Wright County property owners recently. The light blue notices were sent in white window envelopes. These notices are intended to notify property owners of the 2019 estimated market value and classification for their property. Although the top line says 2020, don’t simply set it aside. This estimate and classification is what will be used to determine the apportionment of property taxes paid in 2020 based on value and classification. Read the whole document carefully and reach out to the Assessor’s office if you have questions.
The Local Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting date, place and time is listed on the notice, with some meetings scheduled for this week. If you feel the information is incorrect for your property and you would like to appeal, the process needs to be started prior to the meeting date on your notice.
In districts that have passed a resolution to utilize the Open Book appeal format, property owners can contact the Assessor’s office throughout the months of April and May with questions or concerns. This is your chance to become more educated about the valuation and classification process.
