The Wright Regional Inspection Program was created as a pilot project in 2018 to combat the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species in select Wright County lakes. On Feb. 26, the Wright Soil & Water Conservation District submitted a revised plan for 2019 which would require an amendment to the County’s stated and revised code, Section 131.07. The Wright County Board of Commissioners is reviewing a draft of Ordinance Amendment Number 19-2 for Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Inspections.
In summary, the 2019 proposed plan changes include:
- Expansion of included lakes
- Improved Inspector Training
- Development of a self-inspection program
- Lake service provider storage certification
- Spot checks at ramps

The 2019 inspection plan also requires formal authorization from the state’s DNR Commissioner to move forward.
