Area students make 64 blankets for foster families
School-age children from Delano and Annandale are spreading warmth in a very special way this holiday season. First-grade students from Delano Elementary and Annandale Girl Scout Troup 18115, along with the family of Connie Haag-Kranz, a County guardian ad litem, created 64 handmade blankets for foster children in Wright County.
“We made 22 blankets, thanks to fleece and money donations from our first-grade families,” said Delano Elementary teacher Jen Wiese. “Each blanket will have a saying embroidered on it such as ‘You are Loved,’ ‘You are Strong,’ ‘You are Amazing.’” The first-graders have been learning about kindness and performing acts of kindness. “We were so excited to have this opportunity and help make a difference in other children's lives,” Wiese said.
Annandale Girl Scout members handmade another 37 blankets in early December and were excited to make them for children in foster care.
The need for foster families is immediate and constant. Wright County is seeking County residents who are willing to welcome children into their home.
